Ten years.

It's hard to believe that an idea that began with a camera, a love for beautiful light, and a heart for serving others has grown into a decade of preserving life's sweetest moments for families across North Dallas.

As I celebrate ten years of Consider the Lilies Photography, I find myself reflecting less on the milestones of my business and more on the people who have made this journey possible.

When I first started this business, my heart was drawn to photographing families. I loved documenting genuine connection, the laughter between siblings, the quiet moments between parents, and the beauty found in everyday relationships. As the years passed, those family sessions naturally led me into the world of newborn photography, where I discovered an even deeper appreciation for preserving life's fleeting first days.

Somewhere along the way, my own family grew too.

Becoming a wife and mother changed the way I approach this work. It deepened my understanding of just how quickly childhood passes and how meaningful these photographs become with time. My perspective shifted, my artistry matured, and my desire to create images that feel authentic, timeless, and full of connection only grew stronger.

Over the last decade, Consider the Lilies Photography has continued to evolve right alongside me.

What began with family portraits expanded into maternity and newborn photography, then into celebrating first birthdays and milestone sessions. More recently, I've had the privilege of working with entrepreneurs, authors, and business owners to create branding imagery and professional headshots that reflect who they are and the work they're called to do.

One of the unexpected joys of these past several years has been creating holiday mini session events. What started as a seasonal offering has grown into one of my favorite traditions each year—a chance to reconnect with returning families, meet new ones, and celebrate the changing seasons together. Seeing children return year after year, growing taller with each Christmas card, is one of the greatest gifts of this work.

This year also marks another exciting chapter as I've created a private studio space that allows me to serve families and branding clients in an environment thoughtfully designed for the timeless, light-filled imagery that has become the heart of my work. It's a natural next step in the evolution of my business, and I'm looking forward to all that it will make possible in the years ahead.

Looking back over ten years, I'm reminded that this business has never simply been about photography.

It's about preserving stories.

It's about slowing down long enough to notice the beauty that already exists.

It's about creating tangible reminders of seasons that never last quite as long as we hope they will.

This recent in-home newborn session was the sweetest celebration of a precious baby girl. Every corner of her room reflected the excitement of welcoming her home, with soft blush pinks, warm creams, delicate feminine details, and a nursery thoughtfully prepared for the days ahead. From tiny fingers wrapped around Mom's hand to quiet moments in Dad's arms, every image tells a small part of their family's story.

One of my favorite parts of in-home newborn photography is that no two sessions are ever the same. Your home becomes part of your family's legacy. Throughout the morning, we focused on genuine connection rather than perfection. Snuggles, quiet moments in the nursery, tiny stretches, sleepy yawns, and the way Mom and Dad naturally looked at their new daughter all became part of the story. Those are the moments that never go out of style.

Of course, we couldn't forget one very important family member—their sweet dog, who happily joined in for a few portraits. Including pets is always one of my favorite ways to make a session feel complete, and it's such a special reminder that they were there from the very beginning.
